When a salaried person has repeatedly put in quality 40-hour weeks -- and goes on an annual leave for no more than 22 working days a year -- for 30 of his or her best years, the nation had better not ask him or her to work any harder or for lesser compensation.
The nation should instead leave no stone unturned in finding ways and means to ensure that that person is well provided for post retirement. That is essentially the social contract that is relevant to men and women who are to take this nation to its rightful place among the developed nations of the world.
