Incomes and politics 2

Income benchmarks in this country are practically set by three types of entrants into the employment market: the unskilled worker, the school leaver, and the graduate of institution of higher learning. In line with the desire to make Malaysia a high-income nation – and to make its distribution fair – their starting salaries must be effectively moderated, which calls for urgent and effective political actions.

No point in boasting a developed-nation per-capita income (i.e., RM10,000 per head per month come year 2020) when more than 90 percent of it is due to less than 10 percent of the population. The nation needs to act now and fast; if nothing effective gets done, that is where the nation is headed. The rich gets richer and the poor gets even poorer.
